April 2016 – Bite Me Cancer raises $55,000 to support its dual mission to support teens battling cancer and raise funds for thyroid cancer research and its third annual Cancerversary Dinner – Celebrating Survivorship! 150 people, many of them cancer survivors, came out on April 23 to celebrate their battle with Nikki Ferraro, Bite Me Cancer’s founder. January 2016 – Bite Me Cancer celebrated its new office space with a ribbon cutting and open house on January 21, 2016. During this same week, Bite Me Cancer celebrated its second Teen Cancer Awareness Week across the Commonwealth of Virginia during the same week. Read the press release here.



September 2015 – Bite Me Cancer celebrated its 5th anniversary! Read the press release.

June 2015 – Bite Me Cancer officially funds its second thyroid cancer research grant. The project is led by Dr. Laura Boucai at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

January 2015 – On January 13, 2015, Bite Me Cancer received a proclamation from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors designating the 3rd week of January 2015 as Teen Cancer Awareness Week.

January 2015 – On January 8, 2015, Bite Me Cancer held its 5th annual Kick-Off Event. Nikki presented the 2015 goals while other speakers presented the 2014 accomplishments as well as their connection to Bite Me Cancer. All the presentations can be seen on a video link from our YouTube channel.

January 2015 – Bite Me Cancer received a proclamation from the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors designating the 3rd week of January 2015 as Teen Cancer Awareness Week.

January 2015 – Bite Me Cancer issues a press release announcing the new Teen Cancer Awareness Week to take place the 3rd week of January throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.


July 2014 – On July 31, 2014, Nikki was present for the signing of a proclamation by Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe that proclaimed the third week of January 2015 as Teen Cancer Awareness Week. Bite Me Cancer championed a Virginia statewide resolution for Teen Cancer Awareness Week that will happen every third week of January beginning in January 2015. June 2014 – Bite Me Cancer officially funds its first Thyroid Cancer research grant. This grant is for a 2-year research project headed by a researcher at M.D. Anderson Center in TX.

February 2014 – Nikki Ferraro and Bite Me Cancer were featured in a new Pay It Forward series broadcast on News Channel 8 in the Greater Washington, DC area. The show highlights individuals who help the community, and Nikki was chosen for the first show.

January 2014 – Bite Me Cancer held its 2014 Kick-Off Event on January 9, 2014. Nikki presented the 2014 goals while Michael (the chairman of the board) presented the 2013 accomplishments. There were also some guest speakers who shared their passion and experiences regarding Bite Me Cancer. All of the presentations, in three parts, are on the YouTube channel.


September 2013 – Bite Me Cancer announces its acceptance into the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area.

June 2013 – Bite Me Cancer raises more dollars and awareness at its 2nd Annual “Take a Swing at Cancer” event held June 9, 2013. Learn more

April 2013 – Bite Me Cancer recognizes the three-year anniversary of the founder’s cancer diagnosis.

November 2012 – The Paisano’s Pizza campaign has resulted in over $12,000 to go towards thyroid cancer research! Thank you to Fouad Qreitem, CEO of Paisano’s, and to everyone who helped to support this campaign. A photo of Nikki with Fouad and “the check.”

March 2012 – Bite Me Cancer will participate in a 5K fundraiser being held on March 24 at Fairfax Corner, VA. Over 800 runners will be supporting Life With Cancer and the National Brain Tumor Society.

January 2012 – Nikki Ferraro, founder of Bite Me Cancer, announced the new $50K for 50K campaign at the 2012 kick-off event.

June 2011 – Nikki received the first Perlita Liwanag Scholarship given through the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, presented by Perlita’s son, Jay.

June 2011 – Virginia Delegate Ken Plum presents a symbolic resolution to Nikki at the 2011 Relay for Life. Click here to see the picture.

May 2011 – Nikki and her Bite Me Cancer Relay for Life team were highlighted in two articles in the Centreview.

March 2011 – Nikki and Bite Me Cancer had a display of Bite Me Cancer t-shirts, bracelets and baked goods at a special Chantilly High School community service event called “Track-A-Thon” that was organized to raise donations for the National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure. Bite Me Cancer was invited to attend to raise donations for its own Relay for Life Team.

March 2011 – Nikki was presented with the American Cancer Society #1 Online Fundraiser award for the 2010 Relay season in the South-Atlantic Division. The South-Atlantic Division represents Virginia, Washington, D.C., Maryland, West Virginia, Delaware, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

December 2010 – On December 6, 2010, the Fairfax County Government Board of Supervisors presented Nicole Ferraro with a special resolution to honor her efforts in handling her cancer diagnosis. Watch the video and check out the plaque.

November 2010 – Nikki is presented with the 2010 Leadership Fairfax Non-Profit Educational Leadership Award. This is the overview given in the LFI program on the night of the LFI gala.

August 2010 – Nikki receives the 2010 LFI Non-Profit Educational Leadership Award.

June 2010 – Nikki Ferraro participates in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, held June 19-20 with her “Bite Me Cancer” team. She comes in first as the top individual funder, and her team places 2nd at the Relay. However, when the Relay accounting is completed in August, Nikki’s team finishes first! The local CentreView newspaper presents an article about Nikki Ferraro, her thyroid cancer and her successful Relay for Life fundraising.
